Child Obesity Should Be Taken Seriously

Child obesity is fast becoming a problem around the world. With the
health risks that come with obesity, the mortality rate is shocking. As
technology keeps on growing, our children’s physical well-being is
becoming more and more neglected. Everything has to be quick and easy.
Nowadays, you can pretty much do anything inside your home, as long as
you have an Internet connection. Children are the ones who will be
greatly affected by this health issue that we are facing. Many children
are spending more time watching TV, using the computer, or playing video
games rather than doing exercise or play sports like basketball or
baseball. What many of us fail to realize is that even children
could suffer from heart attack or diabetes, or high blood pressure

Obese
children
are the most susceptible to these health risks. Can you imagine the
effects that obesity will have on your children? We’re not just talking
about the health aspect of it; can you imagine what obesity can do to
them emotionally and psychologically? This is actually the first problem
an obese child will encounter; emotional and psychological distress.
This will eventually lead to more serious health issues such as
diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, and other
debilitating disorders. The question now is how do we
prevent
child obesity
? The key here is parenting. Yes, the answer lies in how parents raise
their children. Parents have to lead by example. Eating healthy, doing
exercise, or leading a healthy lifestyle is how you show your kids how
to live healthy. Encouraging them to engage in sports like swimming,
martial arts, football, or soccer is also a good idea to keep them
physically active. Children learn by example, they do whatever their
parents do, because in a child’s eyes, everything an adult does is the
right thing to do. Limiting your child’s TV time or video game
time is another way to keep him or her active. Going to the beach or
having family picnics can create a strong family bond as well as keep
the whole family physically active. Family time is always a good idea;
it keeps parents up-to-date with what’s going on in their child’s
everyday life. Indulging in fast food meals like pizza, burgers, or
friend chicken should always be in moderation. The whole family should
always be eating healthy food.
Child
obesity
is a problem that parents can do something about. Solving this problem
should start with parenting. No one is born obese and no one is born
lazy. It all depends on how children are being brought up. In other
words, it’s up to you, parents, to keep your children healthy.
